Located in West Seattle, this compact master suite addition contains a new bedroom, walk-in-closet, and master bath. Working with a tight budget, the addition was built while the owners continued to reside in the existing residence. Upon completion of framing, a doorway was punched into the existing residence and a corridor was added connecting the existing residence with the new master suite. This allowed the owner's to live in their existing residence throughout construction. The new addition was positioned in order to maintain access to the back yard from the main part of the house. A polycarbonate wall runs the length of the circulation corridor providing the master suite with an abundance of light while also maintaining privacy. Cedar boards were utilized in a rainscreen application for the exterior siding. A future roof deck will provide additional exterior living and will be accessed via an external stair.
